Christian Brothers College regretfully announces the closure of its Early Learning Centre at the end of 2023
Christian Brothers College (CBC) announces the unfortunate news to close the beloved Early Learning Centre (ELC) due to circumstances beyond the College’s control.
The decision comes as a result of the advice provided by the property owner, the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) that they will not be renewing the lease and will be putting the property up for imminent sale, leaving CBC with no choice but to cease operations.
“The CWL has advised they want to focus on their core business to promote the spiritual, cultural, intellectual, and social interests of Catholic Women, and that selling the property – a site with high-value Parklands frontage and significant development potential – would provide substantial funds for them to continue this work.
“Whilst we respect that this is their right, it, unfortunately, means we are no longer able to continue operating the ELC”, says David Johnston, Principal, Christian Brothers College.
For the past 12 years, the CBC ELC has been an integral part of the College’s commitment to early childhood development, offering a rich educational experience that prepares children for their future academic journey.
“We have thoroughly investigated numerous alternative options, including possible relocation and acquisition of property, but unfortunately, none are financially viable,” says Mr Johnston.
CBC would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to all the families and staff who have been part of the ELC over the years. While this chapter will be ending in December 2023, the CBC ELC remains committed to providing the highest quality education for the children.
Mr Johnston states:
“We will continue to offer our usual high standard of care at the ELC until the end of the year and are working closely to support our families as they develop a transition plan for their sons and daughters, as well as our staff”.
CBC is grateful for the support and understanding of its community during this transition and looks forward to continuing its mission of fostering academic excellence as a Reception to Year 12, all-boys Catholic College.
